Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

We headed up to St Michael’s, MD for the day. What a special place. It has the best Maritime Museum ever. Kids and adults can see old skiffs and sailing vessels up close. No ropes to keep you from touching. There were displays about oystering and crabbing, waterfowl hunting, and so on. It is like a little village along the Chesapeake with volunteers rebuilding boats that will answer any question. The town was an old village centered on shipbuilding around the War of 1812. It prides itself on being the town that fooled the British when it hung lanterns from trees away from town to fool the British. It worked! There are lots of shops along Talbot Street and even a winery.

We drove out 15 more miles to the end of the road to Tilghman Island, a small fishing village that hasn’t changed in years.
So for the night we headed an hour NE to Tuckhoe State Park. Nestled in the woods, a perfect place to rest and regroup before heading to PA to visit Aunt Marilyn and Uncle John.

Wrong turn leaving Tuckhoe SP.

Side notes: Child sleeps through the night by himself, do not need to bring so much junk next time (may need to have a yard sale along the way), need more t-shirts since all mine are dirty now, sweeping is pointless, alcohol prohibited in state parks is bogus, bug spray is a must, relative's homes make good laundromats, dogs are good company when children are not available.
